Welcome
Michael J. O'Ryan was Born in Knockalisheen, Ballymacarbry to Kieran and Maureen. He is the youngest and only brother to Orla, Caroline, Geraldine and Martina. Continuing in the tradition of Grandfather Cllr. Micheal O Riain and father Kieran O Ryan who held the position of councillor for a record 54 years.

Michael J was elected to Waterford County Council in 2009 as a Fianna Fail Councillor to represent the people of the newly formed Comeragh Constituency. Since election he has also been nominated to the Board of Co. Waterford VEC, The Suir Drainage Committee, The Comeragh Mountain Forum as Vice Chairman and Special Policy Committee within the council structure.
Michael J is a primary school teacher by profession and teacher at Lisronagh N.S. outside of Clonmel in South Tipperary and has done so for the last seven years. He has been very active within his own area prior to election and has continued this since. He has recently stepped down as chair of BEHAL, which provided a scheme of 15 houses for the elderly within the village. In this role he welcomed Former President, Mary McAleese to the area last September to officially unveil this worthwhile scheme. Michael also led the campaign to bring Pride of Place recognition to the valley. Under his stewardship the area coveted the National title in Gorey in November 2011.
